On Saturday, May 12, 2007 animal rights activists gathered outside the Hartford Civic Center to draw attention to the bullhooks which are used on circus elephants. Connecticut currently has legislation pending which would outlaw the bullhook. Ringling Brothers has stated that they would be unable to return to Connecticut if the law is passed.
